The first four years of working on the church have been almost exclusively about the sanctuary ceiling. We've removed literal tons of plaster and lath, exposed the original trusses, and insulated it all with foam. Then we built a new ceiling from white pine, with a flat clear-coat and no stain. The final stage is trimming out the ceiling and adding recessed up-lighting to illuminate all this work and give us some decent fill-lighting for a large room. It's taken a bit longer than expected.
