This is a table built off of the design of one I saw in a Chicago salvage warehouse out of old pine joists and a few pieces of fir (maybe). There weren't any drawers on the original, but Sally thought we should add some (built in storage is so hip).
The drawers are red oak (yes, the nicest wood in the table is totally hidden) and the faces of the drawers are built out of the old pine nailers from our ceiling.
The top will be finished in linseed oil and the sides and legs are stained with a "Natural Teak" color. All of it will be sealed with two coats of urethane.
Overall size is 110 x 52 inches, and it's mostly screwed together with pocket-joints. When in doubt, add another cross-brace and screws. It's large and heavy, and should seat 8 generously and 10 without much elbowing. Since we don't know 6 (let alone 8) other people who would actually eat something cooked by me, we should always have plenty of room.
