his morning I found myself looking up the domain expiration for a friend's site, and as a consequence also saw the original registration date for this particular site you're just so lucky to be reading (or at least the .net version of it) and it seemed enough to justify a post; March 31st, 2001. By my best math that comes out to ten years, and means I'll have to start using toes the next time I think to look at it.
My first blog post doesn't show up in the archive until 2002, but I think used a different blogging system in 2001 and... be strong... lost the meager original posts. I share your grief on this.
I'm about 5 years and 9 months into a marriage, and about 5 years and a few months into owning an incomplete home. It's starting to creep up on me how many occasions and anniversaries are being marked in my life not simply by years, but by collections of years that exceed any reasonable interpretation of "a few" or "a couple" or "several." Five, ten... I graduated from high school in what, 1992, so hey next year means I get to add a "twenty" to my newfound vocabulary. A winner in every box.
I'm not hung up on it though - just cognizant. The time is passing rapidly, and I spend a lot of it staring at a computer or a TV. I could probably find more useful outlets for my remaining time... Maybe I will once it warms up a bit. Sally got me to go running on Wednesday nights (not with her, which probably accounts for her giddiness each Wednesday), and I look forward to riding my bike to work once we move back to the church... So that's outdoorsy and healthy, which is good.
Can I mention the cat occupying the bed next to me breathes like a 90 year-old asthmatic snorting asbestos fibers? Eventually a wife will occupy that space, but for now... it's like a vacuum caught on the edge of a throw rug. Just roll over dummy.
So ten years, and all you get is a lousy post without pictures. What a ripoff. Write to the management and give them what-for.
They might send you a cat.

You and your "collections" are just a pup! It's all relative.

Happy anniversary... belatedly. What is 10 years in virtual time? Should I send pixels in lieu of paper?
Does the silence eat at you? Suffer no more...
